Eventually he decides to keep the water, but not the bottles -- because it's petty, that's why. The water gets dumped into an empty keg (and will forever smell faintly of hops), and the bottles get dropped on Hakkai's front step.
Except his front step isn't there anymore.
If Hakkai wanders by the location where his temple used to be any time after the 9th, he might spot a neat cluster of empty glass bottles and the remains of a handful of incense where the front door used to be. ]
